Η Πάρος είναι το 3ο µεγαλύτερο νησί των Κυκλάδων. Πρωτεύουσά της είναι η Παροικιά στη δυτική ακτή, ενώ η δεύτερη σε µέγεθος πόλη, η Νάουσα, είναι ένα κοσµικό ψαροχώρι και ένα από τα πιο όµορφα λιµανάκια όχι µόνο στο νησί αλλά στο Αιγαίο!
Αντιπροσωπευτική εκπρόσωπος των Κυκλάδων, γραφική, κατάλευκη σαν τα µάρµαρά της, συνονθύλευµα χρωµάτων και αισθήσεων, απλή και όµορφη, σαν το περίγραµµά της να είναι… ζωγραφισµένο, µε τον ήλιο, τον αέρα, τη θάλασσα και τις χρυσαφένιες αµµουδιές να τη χαϊδεύουν, γεµάτη παραδοσιακούς οικισµούς, εκπληκτικές παραλίες και φιλόξενους ανθρώπους, η Πάρος µαγεύει από την πρώτη στιγµή.

Η ιστορία της
Η ιστορία του νησιού µπορεί να φτάνει πολύ πίσω στον χρόνο, από την εποχή του Λίθου και του Χαλκού (5η χιλιετία π.Χ.), αλλά το νησί δοκιµάστηκε πολύ κατά την περίοδο της Ενετοκρατίας (1204-1537 µ.Χ.) αλλά και της Τουρκοκρατίας (1537-1821 µ.Χ).
Αρχικά, κατά τη διάρκεια της Ενετοκρατίας, εντάσσεται στο Δουκάτο του Αιγαίου (1207) και οι κάτοικοι δουλεύουν στα χωράφια ως δουλοπάροικοι, ενώ οι πειρατικές επιδροµές και οι λεηλασίες τούς ταλαιπωρούν συνεχώς. Η Νάουσα γίνεται βάση πειρατών. Την ίδια περίοδο χτίζεται το κάστρο της Παροικιάς, της Νάουσας και του Κέφαλου (Μάρπησσα).
Κατά την Τουρκοκρατία, µε την κατάληψη του νησιού από τον γνωστό και φοβερό πειρατή Μπαρµπαρόσα (1537) και την ερήµωση που ακολουθεί, κλείνει το κεφάλαιο της Ενετοκρατίας για την Πάρο. Το κατεστραµµένο πλέον νησί κυριεύεται από τους Τούρκους (1560), ενώ κατά τη διάρκεια των Ρωσοτουρκικών πολέµων (1770-1777) ο ρωσικός στόλος χρησιµοποιεί τον ασφαλή όρµο της Νάουσας σαν ορµητήριo στο Αιγαίο.
Στη νεότερη ιστορία, η Πάρος παίρνει ενεργό µέρος στην ελληνική επανάσταση του 1821, ενώ δοκιµάστηκε σκληρά την περίοδο της γερµανικής κατοχής. Μετά το τέλος του Β’ Παγκοσµίου Πολέµου, οι Παριανοί αναγκάζονται να µεταναστεύσουν αρχικά στον Πειραιά και αργότερα στο εξωτερικό. Περίπου τη δεκαετία του 1960 αρχίζει µία καινούργια περίοδος ανάπτυξης για το νησί, βασισµένη κυρίως στον τουρισµό.
Φυσικά ο πολιτισμός και η ιστορία αποτυπώνεται με τον καλύετρο τρόπο στα μουσεία και τους πολιτιστικούς χώρους του νησιού που σίγουρα αξίζουν μαι επίσκεψη!
Ιερο Δήλιου Απόλλωνα
Με θέα προς τη Δήλο, έξω από την Παροικιά, βρίσκεται ιερό αφιερωµένο στον Δήλιο Απόλλωνα και στην Άρτεµη (5ος αι. π.Χ.), που στέγαζε το λατρευτικό άγαλµα της Άρτεµης, που πλέον εκτίθεται στο αρχαιολογικό µουσείο της Πάρου.
Ιερό Ασκληπιού
Στη θέση Αγία Άννα, στον δρόµο προς την Αλυκή, επισκεφθείτε τα ιερά του Πυθίου Απόλλωνα και του Ασκληπιού (4ος αι. π.Χ.), απ’ όπου προέρχεται και ο ακέραιος κούρος του Μουσείου του Λούβρου και πολλά µαρµάρινα αναθήµατα.
Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο Πάρου
Βρίσκεται δίπλα στο Γυµνάσιο της Παροικιάς και συγκαταλέγεται στα σηµαντικότερα µουσεία της Ελλάδας, λόγω των εκθεµάτων του που βρέθηκαν σε ανασκαφές σε Πάρο και Αντίπαρο, µε πιο γνωστά τη Νίκη της Πάρου, την αρχαϊκή µαρµάρινη Γοργώ, τον ποιητή Αρχίλοχο κ.ά.
Δηµοτική Βιβλιοθήκη Πάρου
Λειτουργεί από το 2003 και στεγάζεται σε ένα όµορφο αναπαλαιωµένο κτίριο, µέσα στον παραδοσιακό οικισµό της Παροικιάς. Διακρίνεται για το πλούσιο αρχειακό υλικό της για την ιστορία και τον πολιτισµό της Πάρου, αλλά και για τον αρχαίο Παριανό ποιητή Αρχίλοχο (Τ. 22840 23373 & 21656).
Λαογραφικό µουσείο Μάρπησσας
Αν θέλετε να γνωρίσετε την παραδοσιακή ζωή της Πάρου, επισκεφθείτε στην πλατεία του Αγίου Νικολάου, στη Μάρπησσα, το λαογραφικό µουσείο του χωριού, όπου θα θαυµάσετε παλιά έπιπλα, αργαλειούς, σκεύη και διάφορα άλλα παραδοσιακά αντικείµενα (Τ. 22840 41217, ωράριο λειτουργίας: κάθε µέρα εκτός Τρίτης, 10:00-14:00 & 18:00-22:00).
Μουσείο Ανθέµιον
Δηµιουργήθηκε από τον Αλέξανδρο και την Κυριακή Κοντογιώργου και θα το συναντήσετε στον δρόµο που ενώνει την Αλυκή µε την Παροικιά. Σ’ αυτό µπορείτε να ανακαλύψετε διάφορες συλλογές ιστορικής και επιστηµονικής αξίας από την Πάρο και την Αντίπαρο.
Μουσείο Λαϊκού Πολιτισµού του Αιγαίου
Βρίσκεται στις εγκαταστάσεις του ξενοδοχείου Lefkes Village και ιδρύθηκε από τον επιχειρηµατία-συγγραφέα Γιώργο Πίττα. Μέσα σ’ αυτό θα θαυµάσετε εκθέµατα της καθηµερινής ζωής των ανθρώπων της Πάρου αλλά και του Αιγαίου και αντικείµενα των παλαιών παραδοσιακών επαγγελµάτων.
Λαογραφικό Μουσείο Λευκών
Το Μουσείο αυτό βρίσκεται στις Λεύκες και εκεί θα βρείτε δείγµατα της παλαιάς ζωής όπως κεντήµατα, υφαντά, εργαλεία κ.λπ., που έχουν συγκεντρωθεί από δωρεές Λευκιανών (Τ. 22840 42414, λειτουργεί από 15/6 έως 15/9).
Ιστορικό και λαογραφικό µουσείο – Συλλογή Όθωνα Κάπαρη
Βρίσκεται παραπλεύρως της πλατείας της Νάουσας και εκεί εκτίθεται η πλούσια συλλογή του Όθωνα Κάπαρη, επιφανούς και προσφιλούς Παριανού γιατρού, µε ευρήµατα από τη Μυκηναϊκή Ακρόπολη των Κουκουναριών, αρχαία νοµίσµατα, χάρτες, ιστορικά βιβλία κ.λπ.
