Στην καρδιά της Ευρώπης βρίσκεται μια πόλη που διαμορφώθηκε από αυτοκράτορες, συγγραφείς και καλλιτέχνες. Σήμερα είναι μια δημοφιλέστατη ευρωπαϊκή πόλη, αγαπητός χειμερινός και χριστουγεννιάτος προορισμός των απανταχού ταξιδιωτών και όχι τυχαία.
Με τη γοτθική ζωντάνια, την αίγλη του 19ου αιώνα και το μοντερνισμό του 20ού αιώνα, η Πράγα είναι πραγματικά μοναδική. Η Πράγα…
- Έχει το μεγαλύτερο κάστρο στον κόσμο. Κατασκευάστηκε τον 9ο αιώνα το Κάστρο της Πράγας και στεγάζει πανέμορφους καθεδρικούς ναούς, εκκλησίες, βασιλικά παλάτια και υπέροχους κήπους.
- Υπάρχει ένας τείχος με γκράφιτι αφιερωμένος στον Τζον Λένον. Από το 1980 έχει ξαναζωγραφιστεί αμέτρητες φορές και συνοδεύεται από στίχους του Λέννον και των Beatles.
- H Γέφυρα του Καρόλου διαθέτει μια κάπως μαθηματική σπουδαιότητα. Ο πρώην βασιλιάς της Τσεχίας Κάρολος ο IV έβαλε την πρώτη πέτρα στη γέφυρα ακριβώς στις 5:31 π.μ. στις 9 Ιουλίου του 1357. Ήταν ένας άνθρωπος που πίστευε βαθιά σε δεισυδαιμονίες και στην αστρολογία και επέλεξε αυτή την ημερομηνία λόγω της γραπτής της μορφής: 1-3-5-7-9-7-5-3-1 (έτος, ημέρα, μήνας, ώρα). Σίγουρα αυτό δεν το είχατε ξανακούσει!
- Στην πόλη βρίσκεται ο Vlatva, ο μεγαλύτερος ποταμός σε ολόκληρη τη χώρα…
- Σύμφωνα με το θρύλο, ο Χίτλερ σχεδίαζε να διατηρήσει την εβραϊκή συνοικία της πόλης όταν αποσυρόταν. Όσο περίεργο κι αν ακούγεται, ο ναζιστής ηγέτης ήθελε να εγκαστασταθεί στην περιοχή και να την μετατρέψει σε μουσείο στη μνήμη της “εξαφανισμένης φυλής”…
- Ακόμα κι αν δεν έχετε επισκεφτεί ποτέ την Πράγα, πιθανώς θα έχετε ακουστά το διάσημο Αστρονομικό Ρολόι. Λοιπόν, μαντέψτε: στη νοτιοανατολική Ασία, συγκεκριμένα στη Σεούλ, θα βρείτε ένα ακριβές αντίγραφο στη διάσημη συνοικία Hongdae…
- Το διάσημο Μέγαρο Χορού ή Κτίριο που Χορεύει στην πόλη είχε ως έμπνευση το Φρεντ Αστέρ και τον Τζίντζερ Ρότζερσ. Σχεδιάστηκε από τον Καναδοαμερικανό Φρανκ Τζέρι και τον Κροατό Βλάντο Μίλουνιτς, μοιάζει με ζευγάρι που χορεύει και συμβολίζει το yin και το yang, στην προκειμένη περίπτωση, το μίγμα του κουμουνισμού με τη δημοκρατία.
- Οι ντόπιοι καταναλώνουν περισσότερη μπύρα κατά κεφαλή σε σύγκριση με οποιοδήποτε άλλο έθνος του κόσμου, εξάλλου είναι η πατρίδα της Pilsner. Και σε περίπτωση που αναρωτιέστε, κάθε γυναίκα της πόλης καταναλώνει 155 λίτρα μπύρας το χρόνο!
- Συχνά ψηφίζεται ως το πιο μισητό μνημείο της πόλης, ο Πύργος Zizkov διαθέτει αγάλματα με μωρά που σκαρφαλώνουν πάνω του. Ο Τσέχος καλλιτέχνης David Cerny έίναι βαθιά αντισυμβατικός, εξάλλου είναι ειδικότητά του να συνδυάζει το προκλητικό με το αλλόκοτο.
- Η Γέφυρα του Καρόλου ήταν κάποτε η μεγαλύτερη πλατεία σε ολόκληρη τη μεσαιωνική Ευρώπη. Είναι εντυπωσιακό το γεγονός ότι παραμένει από τις μεγαλύτερες του κόσμου. Η παλιότερη ονομασία της ήταν “Αγορά των Βοοειδών’”.
- Αν ανεβείτε τα 299 σκαλιά του Πύργου Petrin, θα απολαύσετε απίστευτη θέα προς την πόλη.
